Edgar Saenz attended Rotary International Convention in Viena

Kathy and Edgar had a great time in Lisbon recently, the site of this year’s Rotary International convention. Complete strangers became instant friends. Edgar and Kathy travelled with other Westchester Rotarians to the city that launched the age of discovery. The convention focused on peace. The proceedings recognized the three peace forums held under Rotary International President Sakuji Tanaka in Hiroshima, Germany, and Hawaii. President Tanaka’s theme, “Peace Through Service,” was evident in the Peace Song created by young artists. Peace can mean confidence in the future – a life in a secure and stable society. It was gratifying for Edgar to speak personally with both current President Tanaka and incoming President Ron Burton.
When Edgar and Kathy weren’t at the convention, they enjoyed Alfama’s esprit de vivre, the peace of the Fatima shrine, and the romantic beauty of hilltop Moorish castles.
